 Group ABA Therapy Program
Age 2 years and up

Think Tank Therapy believes play is the solid base of learning – that is learning about play skills and modalities to understand the environment and interact and socialize with others. Through play, children learn how to interact with their peers and the environment, how to problem solve, and how to be creative and use reasoning skills (Pyle et al., 2018). Sometimes, children who are neurodiverse have different ways to engage in play, and therefore have different ways to engage with others in their environment or learn about their worlds.

Learning Objectives

Students will be assessed using VB-MAPP (Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program). Students will then have direct and specific therapy goals developed that meet their developmental level and needs.

Step by step teaching and learning how to play and engaging in different types of play (e.g., constructive, pretend play, play with rules) is taught through Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), together with modes and ways of learning.

Through play-based learning at a 1:2 ratio, children learn the skills needed to engage in meaningful play and learn pre-academic skills needed to successfully transition to a school setting. These skills include learning to tolerate delays, coping with environmental distractors, learning leisure skills, self-care skills such as feeding, toileting, and a big focus on functional communication.

As lead clinicians work together to create successful holistic programming for the students, the goals will be run at a higher intensity in a one-to-one setting.

Learning Objectives

Students will be assessed using VB-MAPP (Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program), as well as individual speech and language therapy and occupational therapy observation and formal assessments.

Students will then have direct and specific therapy goals developed by our Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Speech & Language Pathologist (SLP) and Occupational Therapist (OT) that meet their developmental level and needs.

Through one-to-one intensive periods of step-by-step teaching with designated time to be with peers at a 1:2 ratio. Students will learning meaningful play, pre-academic skills, and tolerating changing environments, students will be able to successfully transition to school.

Each aspect of our Interdisciplinary Therapy Program is overseen by the respective clinicians, with our Program Manager bringing everything together day to day in our centre.
